I'm Not Grandma, But I've Been Pushed Off the Health Care Cliff

I have worked many years in management...so before I get a lot of comment's telling me I am lazy and depend on the system and I need to do for myself...You had better read this and read it totally...Don't just take parts out of it and say what You want.

I made good money, I wasn't rich...but $30,000.00 a year to me is.

I was diagnosed with Emphysema. I can no longer work. I am now on oxygen ( won't be after the 1st can't afford that either). I have no job, no insurance, and no money. I am on the verge of loosing everything...and no,  I have no savings. 

Now here comes the messed up part. I can't get disability...they turned me down. I don't qualify for medicare because I don't have young children at home, and I can't get social security because I am not 62 years of age...(I am 49) I do qualify for the new health care law that passed, but unfortunately it don't go into effect until 2014 (I'll be dead by then...lol)

Now, I did go to a free clinic that they have here in my area and bless their heart, they are more like a prescription drug center. I was seen by a pediatrician.  All they did at this clinic was ask me what kind of medicine I took and gave me a prescription. (which is still sitting on my counter, can't get them filled)  Oh he did check my blood pressure.

I have searched online for insurance and medical help...and I can get insurance for around $1047.00 a month ..my goodness my house payment is $440.00 and I can't pay that, how am I suppose to pay the insurance.

So, really for the first time in my life I am finding out how the system works. It Sucks!! I am not only in some kind of "dough nut" whole I am being pushed right off the cliff.

I even went to an attorney for help on the disability, and I was told that unless I had a doctor  write out a letter stating that I was disabled that there was nothing to be done to get disability...I can't afford a doctor!!!


I do know,  that something has to be done on the "HILL" and if I knew how I would...If  I could hire a "lobbyist" like the rich do I would..

I have paid since I was 14years of age into the system and always paid my taxes, ssi, and medicare taxes....now I need a refund and can't get one...SOME ONE NEEDS TO FIX THE SYSTEM.

I know I am not the only one standing at the edge of this cliff...I wish You all the best, and to get well quick...As for me I would love to just see my 50th Birthday.

A Little About Me

I have a lot of thoughts and opinions like everyone else...I am really tired of keeping all these thoughts to myself and need to find a way to "Vent" so I found this site and here I go...lol

Most of my blogs I am positive will be political, but some about what is going on this little town in Alabama.

I am just starting into the blogging world and I am sure I have a lot to learn...If anyone has suggestion's and pointer's I will gladly take the advise...
